Timeline
During the early stages of the pandemic, as school and other extracurriculars were shutting down, I began to develop a great passion for art.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, not everyone was fortunate enough to be able to provide proper meals for their family or sufficient food on the table. I realized I could make a difference, developing Artulio and uploading my artwork. An end goal was soon established: raise $1000 in 2020 for a local food bank Martha's Kitchen.
In May I received the opportunity to visit and tour the local food bank with executive director Bill Lee. Martha's Kitchen, located in San Jose, was a well organized, open space for anyone to receive meals during tough times and was always open to volunteers.
A local news channel, ABC7, interviewed me for a segment on their nightly news for "Building a Better Bay Area." After this clip, my site began to really take off, with dozens of orders–some of which I shipped and others I personally delivered.
In September of 2020 I finally reached my main goal of $1000 for Martha's Kitchen, after selling more than 40 paintings total!
Although I reached my $1000 goal, Martha's Kitchen is only a start. There are so many deserving charities and organizations worthy of donations and assistance. Throughout 2021, any extra profits I made from unofficial sales were donated to a variety of different nonprofits throughout the Bay Area.
